Four Generations — Sheldon and Reeve family legacy

Roots

Born & Raised in Alaska

A 4th generation Alaskan, Ryan grew up as a part of the Sheldon and Reeve families, pioneers who helped shape this state. Alaska isn't just home; it is our identity, heritage, and purpose.

Formative Years

Schooling & Summers in Talkeetna

Ryan graduated from Grace Christian School in Anchorage, where he built a strong academic foundation, won a state track and field title, and earned All-State honors in vocal performance. Each childhood summer, his family returned to Talkeetna to visit his grandmother, Roberta, deepening his connection to the place he loves most.

Schooling & Summers in Talkeetna

Formative Years

Young Entrepreneur

During his childhood summers in Talkeetna, Ryan and his brothers were inspired to start businesses of their own. With the guidance of their parents, they began with a fresh-squeezed lemonade stand, which soon grew into a hot dog cart on Main Street. Through these early ventures, Ryan learned that success in small business is earned through team work, dedication, and discipline, long before the rewards are realized.

First Big Challenge

Beginnings in Project Management

Ryan gained invaluable experience from being part of the Sheldon Chalet construction team and learned much from the general contractor over three rigorous summers. Spending weeks at a time in extreme conditions, often working 16-hour days, he navigated the challenges of weather, logistics, and isolation in one of the most remote places on earth. The experience tested every ounce of his grit and resourcefulness, and became a defining crucible that shaped how he approaches challenges today.

Education

College & Business Degree

Ryan attended Belmont University on scholarships for both vocal performance and track and field, earning a business degree that continues to guide his approach to leadership, financial discipline and decision-making.

Return Home

A Job Offer

Upon graduation, Ryan's former boss called with an opportunity to manage a local landscaping business. He accepted and gained firsthand experience leading a team and building a small business.

Family Business

A Move to Talkeetna and Family Business

Ryan bought property and moved to Talkeetna to help run the family's tourism operation. Managing sales and promotion, working with staff, overseeing costs, and coordinating logistics gave him firsthand experience with what small businesses face every day, as well as the challenges of operating in remote Alaska.

Entrepreneurship

Teaming up with the best of Alaska

From his time as a D1 college athlete Ryan knew there was a market gap in the health and wellness sector. He teamed up with Reese Hanneman, an Alaskan Olympian for team USA, together they founded and scaled a pre-workout product that sells online and retail stores. Building a company from concept to national distribution required vision, discipline, and the willingness to compete in a demanding marketplace.

Community Service

Talkeetna Water & Sewer Board

Ryan serves on the Talkeetna Water and Sewer Board, where he oversees budgets and the key basics of utility operations, ensuring the community has reliable access to essential services.

Public Service

Chief of Staff in Juneau

In January 2025, just weeks before the legislative session, Ryan received a call from a friend serving as a State Representative, inviting him to step into the role of Chief of Staff. He accepted, gaining a front-row seat to how state government operates—where it succeeds, where it falls short, and what strong leadership can achieve.

Statewide Politics

Aiding a Governor's Campaign

After Juneau, Ryan was offered the opportunity to work on a gubernatorial campaign. The experience gave him firsthand insight into what it takes to run a campaign, traveling across the state and learning what Alaskans want from their elected officials.

The Next Chapter

Joining the Race for State Senate

With over a decade of entrepreneurial experience, a family legacy of Alaskan service, and a deep commitment to Alaska and District O, Ryan decided it was time to step forward, putting everything he's built and learned to work for his community.
